The Neighborhood Watch program encourages residents to come together to look out for each other, and work toward creating a safer community. There can’t be a law enforcement officer on every street corner, so citizen involvement is essential to combat crime. You and your neighbors are the ones who really know what is going on in your neighborhood, and are in the best position to spot unusual activities or potential crime in your area. By cooperating with each other and the police, people can help fight crime in their community in the most effective way – before it starts. Whether homeowner or renter, any community resident can join our Neighborhood Watch program.

Why Get Involved?

  • Help reduce crime. Throughout the country, dramatic decreases in burglary and related offenses are reported by law enforcement professionals in communities with active watch programs.

  • Learn crime prevention skills, including the ability to be the eyes and ears for law enforcement. Citizens can learn from Carlsbad Police Department to recognize and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.

  • Get involved. Besides being the eyes and ears for the community, volunteers can also operate telephone text trees, arrange guest speakers and write website articles updating the community on current concerns.

  • If nothing else, extra eyes paying attention are always in demand!
